Multiple Organics' Holiday Cooking Class
Mon, 21 Dec 2009

Multiple Organics, Inc. spent last week educating 24 underserved children from Marin City and San Rafael about the nutritional benefits of cooking with organic food.
Multiple Organics worked with In The Kitchen (ITK) Culinary, a cooking school located in Sausalito. ITK Culinary is dedicated to making cooking accessible to everyone. To that end, ITK partnered with Kids Cooking for Life to bring cooking programs to underserved youths in the community. The programs teach the children about nutrition, healthy eating habits, and basic cooking skills that they are able to use at home. The programs also provide a place where children can learn social skills, etiquette, and how to work well in a team environment.
Together, the Multiple Organics team and the children made delicious holiday goodies: gingerbread-amaranth cookies, holiday popcorn balls, and pumpkin-cherry muffins. They used a host of our organic products, such as, chocolate chips, popcorn, sunflower seeds, amaranth, cashews, and cherries. The Multiple Organics team divided into two groups, a morning session and an afternoon session. The morning session met with students from Performing Stars of Marin City and baked in a “youth volunteer effort” for other children in their community to decorate at the annual Southern Marin Firefighters Toy Drive held on December 23rd. The afternoon session, met with students from Bridge the Gap of Marin City and learned how to prepare a healthy holiday meal and other treats they can share with their families over the holiday break.
In order to fund this special event, Multiple Organics decided to forego their traditional company holiday party and reduce the money spent toward customer holiday gifts. They enrolled their customers in their holiday gift plan and received positive feedback – some generously donated product for the event!
